The Law

This guest blog has been provided by Anna Thomson. The quote is from "Idols of the Heart" by Elyse Fitzpatrick pg 52 pp2. The thoughts are from the Word of God, mainly Psalm 119.

My delight is in the Lord and His law is my pleasure. Re-wording taking place now....My delight ought to be in the Lord and His law ought to be my pleasure. I long so deeply for that. My life has not been a suitable reflection. I read this in a book, a very good book.

The law teaches me how thankful I am to be for Christ's perfect keeping of it. I am bound to Christ because he kept it perfectly, then bore the punishment for my law breaking in His body. By this my heart is prompted to overflow with love and obedience.

The law of the Lord is good. It is our portion and provides wisdom and understanding. It is food to our souls and direction to our feet. It sharpens us, cleanses us, binds us, frees us, and sanctifies us.

I love the law of the Lord. Re-wording taking place now....I ought to love the law of the Lord. And if I love Him, I will keep His commandments. IF I love Him I WILL keep His commandments.
